Well I made a start today on Oranum, and tried to do this without being judgemental about how the company is run. I have to say that after years of working in the industry and being regularly lied to and cheated out of money by management at one company I work for I was pleasantly surprised.

They have twenty four support via skype and while they don't support Linux users (yours truly included) at this point I'm sure that as the company develops this will come along. I have started doing webcam readings, for the first time in a number of years on a site called Oranum, and this got me thinking about how we project ourselves to those around us. for many of us we wear a mask on the outside of what is 'expected' or required of us by those, that have power over us.

What we need as people is to have a great deal more faith in ourselves, than we do. Many of us are so afraid of change that we hand onto the negative and toxic simply to say that we have 'someone'.

It is my hope with this site to help my clients to come out from behind these 'masks' and walk in the sunlight.

Rune Casting

Recently a good friend asked me for my take on the process of rune casting, there are many methods employed in this, but first lets look at something of the history of the runes themselves.

The runes get their name from the Scandinavian word "runa' which means whisper or secret and as such the runes were for a long time were said to be the whispers of the Gods and as such were seen as being the direct communication between the tribe and the Divine.

Until the anglo saxon period around the 1-9th century CE the primary alphabet used was the Viking Futhark, the name comes from the letter values of the first five characters, and these were further subdivided in to three sub groups. At this time the runes were 24 characters but when they were exported from scandinavia to central europe the alphabet expanded to 33 characters in the anglo saxons and other tribes in europe.

The runes would be fashioned each time they were required for a reading, usually from a fruit bearing tree, they would be inked in blood and then after the question had been formulated the runes would be 'cast' or thrown on a blanket or into a flat bowl the reader would then read the combination of symbols and provide the answer to the tribe.

At the end of the viking period, as they were becoming christian, the practice steadily declined, until around the 10th century when it actually became an offence punishable by death. The runes since the last war have had a negative reputation because of their associations with the Nazi regime. In fact the runes are far more ancient than their ideology and it would be wise to put that behind us when we consider runes and their use

Now of course we don't fashion the rune set every time we want to ask a question there are many different sets on the market now. I personally have some hand made ceramic ones, made in my own kiln.

I apologise that I haven't updated this blog for quite sometime now but I have over the last year shifted my focus away from the radio show and more towards developing my creative abilities more. Since I last wrote I have set up a ceramics studio here at home and have started to produce functional ceramics for sale.

I consider myself living proof of the Law of Attraction. As a child I envisioned myself as a radio and television broadcaster. My path from the dream to reality manifested through the music business. After several years on the road, I brought my piano bar act to Nashville's Printer's Alley in the early '60s. Performing by night, writing songs by day, I had songs recorded by such legendary artists as Brenda Lee, Johnny Mathis and Al Hirt among others.

But the broadcasting dream remained an unsettled calling. A fortuitous introduction to the WSM radio program director led to various apprenticeship duties. For ten years I lived on Woody Allen’s advice that eighty percent of success in show business is simply showing up. It worked! Eventually, I persuaded WSM radio officials to let me host its first call-in talk show in 1969.

Driven by my lifelong fascination and curiosity for the spiritual, paranormal and metaphysical, I launched a talk show called “Beyond Reason” in 1987. Today “Beyond Reason” is heard as a webcast through www.beyondreason.com.

If broadcasting is my first love, writing is my second. My previous books include "The Mensh" and "Inside Music City USA." “A Particle of God”—a metaphysical novel—will be released in the spring of 2009.

In really cold water

Yesterday as I was walkng the dogs, I was struck by how our land has changed over the last few months, winter is giving way to spring and the old landscape, barren and empty throughout the winter is being transformed.

It made me think about working as a psychic and how most of the time we are being called upon to transform the client's lives for them, oftentimes, without them being willing to make the changes themselves.

A great many want to have an untroubled life, to sail through the world without having to interact and put themselves out there, potentially to be hurt and this limits the clients to a very narrow "window" on the world.

Speaking of window's as I was walking the dogs, I heard my youngest dog let out a noise I can only really describe as a scream, the bigger of the two dogs had run over the remnants of the ice on the pond and fallen in, and as I ran round to the other side of the pond to retrieve her, I was struck by how her floundering out and and outright panic in the water as she swam in a slow circle in the patch of open water that she found herself in surrounded by ice, that she was completely unable to extricate herself from without help, how much this reminded me of many clients who have lost their way in life and require us with a reading to "break the ice" that traps them as well.

And as I stripped at the side of this frozen pond to go into the water to get her, it's very much like dealing with a client who is desparate and out of options in their lives, they are sinking fast and they need us to throw them a lifeline.

I got her to land and got her home and dried off, so she is fine and suffering no ill effects of her submersion in the icy waters of our pond, but it will teach her a valuable lesson for the future.

So it is with our clients, as psychics we can throw the lifeline but beyond that they have to make up their own minds about where they want to go with their future. For the dog it will be, not going into the pond again till summer is here and for the clients the onus is on them.

Ghost hunting

For those of you that listened to the show tonight with Jeff Belangar, it raises a lot of interesting questions for the aspiring ghost hunter out there. that a lot of show's that are on mainstream TV simply don't answer.

1. The first and of course biggest myth that people think of in terms of ghost hunting, is that it is far from glamourous. Ghost hunters spend hours, even weeks at a location looking for activity and most of the time what we actually find is very far from what we see on TV, in that things are not flying across rooms or chains rattling.

More often what we have, especially if we are sensitive, are impressions, visions, and communication would come more from the energies or personalities of those who have passed would appear to us rather than the rest of the people there.

2. the second is that very often the places that we go are dangerous in the physical sense of the word. ie rotted out floors, remote locations and dodgy wiring. and very often what we percieve as psychic phenonma is not. it's down to the state of the building/location ie foundations shifting, EM fields coming from faulty wiring, that if strong enough can make you physically ill.

Another very interesting point that came up is the fact that very often there can be physcolgical issues affecting those that feel that they are being haunted ie, depression, anxiety insomnia. Sometimes though there are psychogical issues that can cause people to believe they are being haunted and it's a good idea to look very carefully at the situation before commiting yourself to an investigation.

Test the psychic

Well today I was surfing the live person forums and came up with a very familiar topic the habit that some clients have of playing "test the psychic". This is something that has been going on at least as long as I have been doing readings, and I have currently been doing this over twenty years.

They do this for a variety of reasons, some of which is because they have genuine fear of what the expert is going to tell them, or that they are being lied to as a matter of course by this psychic.

All of which is very understandable but very frustrating both for the client and the advisor. So I'm going to suggest some simple tips to ensure that you have a good reading.

1. Relax.

This is one of the biggest issues that we find in terms of clients, they have preconceptions of what a reading is and that they have to have their "guard up" all the time and give nothing away. This is counterproductive and frankly insulting. The expert is not here to rip you off, (though some will) and will try to ease your fears.

2. Trust.

Now this is the hardest thing to do when we see in the media that psychics are going out of their way to rip off the clients. however what I have to say is that while there are unethical advisor out there (sad but true) the vast majority of psychics out there are not out to rip you off and destroy your life and savings.

3. honesty.

It helps to be honest with the advisor and with yourself about what you are really looking for. WE are NOT mind readers or Gods and consequently we are not going to be able to tell you what colour your underwear is or what you had for breakfast last tuesday so it helps not to ask such silly questions.

finally if you would like a reading shop around, one of the biggest things to look for is whether the advisor you pick has a proven track record in doing readings and on Live person, and Keen you will be able to judge using the Stars that other clients have given that advisor. Now while this is not a fool proof system it's better than nothing. and I have to say that it does give the client something of an index into how that advisor is.

Obsessive clients

Today I'm going to talk about a huge issue that affects advisors, and that is the obsessive client. We find that very often clients contact us with questions that can best be described as moronic, one good one is the question of "when is he coming back?" to which I will usually ask when they ended the relationship, some of them will respond, "well several years ago"

Now that poses a problem for the ethical advisors, like how do we break it to them gently that a restraining order does not mean love and that the object of their affections is not remotely interested in them and would rather die than return.

I try to handle this with sensitivity but being direct with them and try to make them see that their obsession, is damaging their lives and preventing them from letting new energies into their lives and thereby finding happiness.

My feeling on this is that, a lot of us, think our whole self worth has to be invested in a partner/spouse, and when that person leaves they are left lost and broken and unable to function.

I would be interested in hearing your views on this, the reader and am throwing the floor open for debate.

It is with profound sadness that I have to report that the little cat that we have been taking care of for the last week and a half has succumbed to the raging infection that were crippling her little body. To the vets at the local practice who have been taking care of her and fighting valiantly as she did to stabilise her condition I have to say a heart felt thanks both from myself and my lovely wife who sat with Athena and spoon fed her cat food and cat milk when she wouldn't and then finally couldn't eat.

Despite the numerous treatments and injections, she was a very sweet cat from the get go and charmed everyone who knew her. I find it hard to believe that she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge to the Summerland and still expect to see her poke her head out of her bed when I come into the room with her food or her medicine.

I also have to thank my good friend Lydia Aswolf who wrote, earlier a very moving blog post on her site for Athena. You can check this out on Http://www.lydiaAswolf.com and click on the link to her blog.

To say that this reduced both myself and my wife to tears is perhaps an understatement.

We have changed her medication and hopefully she will respond to this and get her appetite back. I did check on her this morning and it seems as though she's improved a little but, still a great way to go before she's on the mend totally.

Ethics of getting a reading

Now today I'm going to have a wee rant. I have been for over 4 years the highest rated advisor on Http://www.liveperson.com and am currently rebuilding my practice on Keen as well as building up a new one on bitwine.

One of the biggest issues that we deal with as advisors is the ethics of getting a reading done in the sense that we very often have clients that for whatever reason, are unwilling or simply think that we should work for free.

Now that really irritates me, I have worked long and hard and sacrificed a great deal to get my gift to a level where I can actually help people. But there is also the mundane world to take into account as well. Meaning that while we can be spiritual and get an intangible reward from the other side by giving of our time and energy to help others, there is the day to day reality of having to live in the mortal world.

We have bills to pay just as everyone else does and families to feed and support and with all respect to clients, who have the same issues. You can't expect the shop to give you your groceries for nothing, so that you can "try" before you buy or to go the doctors office and only pay if you "like" what he has to say.

That would be foolish. So I have to wonder at times at the creative excuses that I get from clients who simply refuse to pay and that we "should" give them a reading for nothing simply because they wish it.

I would love to hear your opinions on the matter. So I'm throwing the floor open to you the reader.

What to expect from a reading

Today I thought we could talk about what to expect from a reading. Certainly there is a great deal of confusion out there, I constantly here questions like "what does he feel about me"? or "what are they thinking/feeling". Now a psychic reading while it can be very accurate and will give you a lot of useful information, it is not "mind reading", that is the purview entirely of Hollywood movies

In order to get the very best out of a reading, follow these simple tips.

1. Don't expect it to be like the movies, we are real people, not gods.

2. A reading is a two way street, a lot of the information that we are given is symbolic rather than literal, ie, we might not get the persons name but their personality would come through, or annoying/good habits that would allow you to recognise who are are in fact, "picking up on".

3. Don't go into it with the attitude that all readers are "fakes" that is off putting for the reader and is in real terms a smack in the face. You wouldn't go into the Doctors Office, thinking that he's a quack so why treat us differently.

If you follow these simple tips and you would not have a problem getting a beneficial reading that is going to be good for you and is going to help you to resolve your issues.

And a quick update on Athena, she has started to process food properly meaning that what has gone into her has started to come out again. So she is showing some signs of improvement. She weighed four pounds when we took her to the vet on Monday so I will update you all with her weight after the week of treatment at home on Tuesday night.

Now a lot of people will say that as a "psychic" I should know everything that is going to happen both to all those around me and everything in the world. Sadly that is not how this works in reality and I will discuss this further in a later blog post.

The cat now has a name.

The little cat that we rescued the other day from almost certain death now has a name, we called her Athena. According to the vet they think she's about a year old but has had a very hard life. I have her here at home to care for her, doing her medication and IV's till Tuesday when she has to go back to be reassessed regarding surgery for her leg.

We have high hopes that she is going to pull through and will remain with us a happy, contented, if three legged cat.

I will keep you guys posted on her progress.

Update on the cat

Well a brief update on the cat, we are going to be bringing her home for the next week of medication and IV fluids at home then back to the vets next week for an assessment and another blood panel to see how she's handling the infections that she has.

The vet gives her a good chance of surviving this trauma. Photo's will follow later in the day.

New Cat

Well today I was out with the dogs, on their afternoon walk, and some of our cats were out to stretch their legs for their afternoon play session. We have for the time that we have been living here, had animals around us, we have five cats and two dogs.

The dogs were at one of the rubbish dumps on the land that have been here from before we moved in, a twisted mass of plastic, wood and broken up debris from the land.

I saw a little black face, with yellow eyes peering at me from inside the junk pile and at first I thought it was one of our two black cats. But as I got closer both of my black cats popped their heads up from other parts of the land and came over to have a look, so it wasn't them, obviously.

I took the dogs on the rest of their walk and came back down to where all the cats had congregated, and found this poor unfortunate wee cat sitting, hunched into a ball, shivering and miserable.

I picked her up and took her up to the house to have a good look at her and assess her injuries.

As I lifted her up to take her to the house I was struck by just how think and emaciated she was and how one of her legs just didn't "sit right", I have since found out at the vet today that her led was in fact broken.

She didn't really freak out the way I would have expected from a feral cat, and in fact snuggled into me and closed her eyes as I took her to the house.

When we got here I showed my wife the new kitten and took her upstairs to one of the many bedrooms we have to feed her. Before the hour was out she had eaten three whole tins of cat food without pausing for breath, and had then started on the kibbles.

We took her to the vet later in the evening and had her assessed and now we have to wait for her to last the night at the vets and be assessed in the morning regarding her leg which, no matter which way we look at it, is going to have to come off.

I will fill you all in on her progress tomorrow.

I recently started working on Http://www.bitwine.com and despite what others have said, I'm rather enjoying the site, sure it's new and the sofware is limited to window's only at this point, it seems to be getting busier and I know that they are going to take off as a site soon.

I have just reached a major milestone there, 100 reviews, why is this surprising? and do we even care?

Well the reason that I"m "pumped" is because I have had the opportunity to help over 100 people on that site to deal with their issues and to move forward in their lives and this is always a humbling experience for any psychic.

I frequently look back on the 18,000+ reviews that I have on Http://wwwliveperson.com/DavidJames and think "wow". A huge part of why, as a psychic some of us choose to work online, is not as many suppose the money though it helps to be able to pay our bills every month (who doesn't want that?) but because we can reach a far greater number of people out there that have problems and that need our help.

I will continue to update you all as this develops on Bitwine and to post links to where you can find a great reading and how to avoid the scammer's that are out there pretending to be psychics.

Galina Krasskova is a free range tribalist Heathen and has been a priest of Odin for over ten years. She is the founder of Urdabrunnr Kindred in NYC, and a member of both Ironwood Kindred (MA) and Asatru in Frankfurt (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). Her primary interest is Heathen devotional work and she has both written and lectured extensively on this subject. Galina is heavily involved in the reconstruction of northern tradition shamanism and, in addition to several of her own books, has contributed extensively to Raven Kaldera’s Northern Tradition Shamanism series. Galina holds a diploma in interfaith ministry from The New Seminary in NYC, a BA in religious studies from Empire State College and is currently pursuing her MA in religious studies at New York University. Keen psychic group

For a number of years now I have been the top advisor on but with the current changes there I feel that the time has come for me to start working on other sites and spreading the word of my services.

I have started a Keen group http://www.keen.com/grouplist/12857/GHP/1/ and while it's very early days I have had over 900 clicks in the last week, which I think is pretty good given that I have not really gone all out to advertise it.
